Orlando Cepeda blasted 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the San Francisco Giants

defeated the New York Yankees in 11 innings by a score of 8 to 7 at Yankee

Stadium.

The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings. San Francisco came out on top

in the 11th inning. Chuck Hiller opened up the inning nicely when he laced a

single. Willie McCovey was next and he drew a walk. Harvey Kuenn then

doubled which scored a run. Jim Davenport struck out, unable to help the

rally. Willie Mays stepped into the box and doubled as two more runners

crossed the plate. San Francisco finished with 15 hits while New York ended

up with 12.

Jim Duffalo(1-0) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory.

Duffalo got relief help from Bobby Bolin who gained credit for his 1st save.

Jim Coates(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief. He gave up 3 runs in 2 and

1/3 innings of work.
