Willie Mays launched 2 homeruns and had 7 RBI at Yankee Stadium as the San

Francisco Giants won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the New York

Yankees by the count of 15 to 13.

San Francisco won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 3

runs utilizing 2 base hits. After two were out Harvey Kuenn began the San

Francisco spurt when he banged out a single. Jim Davenport followed and he

drew a walk. Mays then lost the ball over the fence for three runs (his 3rd

of the season). San Francisco lit up the scoreboard in the 3rd inning with 4

runs on 4 hits and the 5th inning which saw them plate 6 runs on 5 hits. Stu

Miller earned the save with a perfect ninth, his 3rd save.

Bobby Bolin(1-1) picked up the victory, allowing 5 runs in 2 innings. Marshall

Bridges(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. New York's manager was

understandably not very talkative after his team's tough loss. He quickly

showered and changed and when asked about the game had a terse, yet polite

response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to lose. Our guys gave

it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin' on us this afternoon'
