Jack Sanford completed the game without help from the bullpen and Willie Mays

touched them all and had 2 RBI as the San Francisco Giants defeated the

Houston Colt 45's 4 to 3 at Candlestick Park.

San Francisco came up with 2 runs in the 3rd inning. Harvey Kuenn began the

San Francisco spurt when he cracked a solo homerun (his 12th of the season).

Jim Davenport was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Mays then

lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 53rd of the season). Houston was set

down quietly in the 9th.

Sanford(20-10) was the winner allowing 3 runs for the game. The loss was

charged to Dick Farrell(18-13). He pitched 8 innings allowing 7 hits and 2

walks.
