Jack Sanford(1-1)with the help of the bullpen whitewashed Los Angeles while
the San Francisco Giants managed just one run in an evening game at
Candlestick Park.
Ed Roebuck(1-1) gave up the game's only run when San Francisco scored in the
7th inning. Los Angeles had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came
up short.
Sanford was helped out by Stu Miller who recorded his 1st save. San
Francisco's manager was beaming after the game, 'Not only were we making good
contact, but a lot of balls we hit seemed to have 'eyes'! I just love winning
these tight ones! It was just our evening - no doubt about it!'
