Billy O'Dell(1-0) and Joey Jay(1-1) treated the San Francisco fans to a fine
pitching duel at Candlestick Park. The San Francisco Giants eventually
emerged as victors over the Cincinnati Reds by the score of 3 to 1.
San Francisco came up with all the runs they needed in the 5th inning scoring
3 runners on 3 hits. Cincinnati had a chance in the 9th but they came up
short.
Don Larsen was credited with his 1st save.
