Orlando Cepeda smashed 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Jack Sanford completed the
game without help from the bullpen as the San Francisco Giants smashed the
overmatched Chicago Cubs, 14 to 2.
Cepeda enjoyed a big day at the plate. He ripped a base-knock plating two runs
in the 5th inning, cracked a solo homerun in the 7th inning and clubbed a
three-run home run (his 5th of the season) in the 8th inning. San Francisco
had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.
Sanford(2-3) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. The losing
pitcher was Dick Ellsworth(1-3). He gave up 7 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings of
work.
'I just got in the box, looked for a pitch and swung,' Cepeda said. 'That's
it'
