Jim Davenport blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Juan Marichal tossed a
complete game at Candlestick Park where the San Francisco Giants beat the
Milwaukee Braves 9 to 2.
It was a good day for San Francisco thanks to Davenport. He smashed a two-run
homer in the 1st inning, blasted a two-run home run (his 2nd of the season)
in the 4th inning and lashed a single in the 6th inning. San Francisco had a
total of 14 hits for the game.
Marichal(1-0) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. Bob
Hendley(0-1) was tagged with the loss. He was touched for 10 hits and 2
walks in 5 innings.
'Davenport led the way - we just jumped on his back and let him take us,'
Marichal said. 'I'm glad I don't have to face him. I'm glad he's on my team.'
