Frank Howard smacked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Candlestick Park where the
Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants 8 to 6.
Howard enjoyed a big day at the plate. He rifled a three-run blast in the 4th
inning and smashed a two-run homer (his 3rd of the season) in the 5th inning.
San Francisco made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the
needed runs across.
The winning pitcher was Joe Moeller(1-0) who allowed 5 runs in 8 and 1/3
innings. The losing pitcher was Juan Marichal(1-1). He was touched for 3
homeruns in his 5 innings of work.
San Francisco's manager was clearly disappointed after the game. 'It was a
manager's nightmare out there', he said, 'We should have had this one.'
