John Roseboro hit 3 doubles and had 2 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers topped
the San Francisco Giants by a score of 5 to 3 at Candlestick Park.
Los Angeles claimed the early lead in the first inning with 3 runs utilizing 3
base hits. After an out was recorded, Jim Gilliam started the rally when he
drew a walk. One out later, Gilliam was safe at second on a stolen base.
Tommy Davis then reached on an error. Ron Fairly came up and he delivered a
base-hit scoring a run. Frank Howard stepped into the box and lined a
one-base hit to load the bases. Roseboro added to the uprising and doubled
adding another two runs to their total. Los Angeles managed 11 in their
victory.
The winning pitcher was Stan Williams(7-8) who allowed 3 runs in 7 and 2/3
innings. Ed Roebuck earned his 7th save. Gaylord Perry(0-2) suffered the
loss.
'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Williams said.
