Billy O'Dell took a no-hitter into the 7th inning and Orlando Cepeda touched
them all and had 4 RBI at Candlestick Park as the incredible San Francisco
Giants beat the Philadelphia Phillies 11 to 2.
Cepeda had a good day at the plate. He lofted a three-run bomb (his 30th of
the season) in the 1st inning and doubled which plated a run in the 5th
inning. San Francisco finished with 14 hits in the victory.
The win was credited to O'Dell(14-8) who went the whole way allowing 2 runs.
The left-handed O'Dell lost his no-hit bid when Tony Taylor doubled with
nobody out in the 7th inning. Dennis Bennett(8-9) was the losing pitcher.
He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 9 hits and 2 walks in 5
innings.
