Matty Alou rocketed 2 homeruns and Billy O'Dell was able to finish what he
started and was credited with a complete game at Candlestick Park where the
San Francisco Giants beat the Chicago Cubs 8 to 1.
Alou had a big day at the plate. He smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the
1st inning, blasted a solo shot (his 5th of the season) in the 4th inning and
slapped a base-hit in the 6th inning. Offensively, San Francisco was a
juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.
O'Dell(13-8) allowed 1 run on the game. Bob Anderson(4-8) absorbed the loss.
He served up 3 gopher balls in 4 innings.
