Billy O'Dell tossed a complete game as the San Francisco Giants defeated the

Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 4 to 1 at Forbes Field.



O'Dell(12-7) was in control of the game from the outset. He didn't give up

much, just 6 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Pittsburgh proved to be no

trouble in the bottom of the 9th.



Joe Gibbon(3-3) took the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 9 hits in 7 innings.
