Tom Haller slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI as the San Francisco Giants
defeated the Milwaukee Braves by the score of 5 to 4 at County Stadium.
San Francisco went ahead for good in the 7th inning scoring one runner
utilizing 2 base hits. Milwaukee made it exciting in the 9th, but they were
unable to push the needed runs across.
Juan Marichal(13-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 4 runs. Marichal got relief help from Stu Miller who gained credit
for his 15th save. Tony Cloninger(5-2) ended up with the loss.
'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said Milwaukee's manager 'but it's losing the
close ones that really hurt.'
