In a lop-sided win the San Francisco Giants put 4 runs on the scoreboard in

the 3rd inning and ripped the dreadful New York Mets by a 11 to 4

count.

 

Willie Mays had a big evening at the plate.  He cleared the fences for a

two-run home run (his 32nd of the season) in the 3rd inning and tripled

knocking in a run in the 5th inning.  Overall San Francisco out-hit New York

13 to 9.  

 

Billy O'Dell(11-7) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing

4 runs. Bob Moorhead(1-4) suffered the loss.  He got hit pretty hard,

allowing 8 hits and 4 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.
