Right fielder Felipe Alou ripped 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Candlestick Park
as the San Francisco Giants beat the Cincinnati Reds 14 to 9.
Alou enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He doubled bringing in a run in the
5th inning, cracked a solo homerun in the 6th inning and smashed a solo-shot
out of the park (his 13th of the season) in the 7th inning. San Francisco
kept the scorekeepers busy in the 5th inning when they had 6 runs on 6 hits.
Cincinnati was not lacking for run support as they scored in 5 separate
innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that pitching is
also needed to win ballgames.
Jack Sanford(7-7) was the winner allowing 5 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Moe
Drabowsky(3-2) suffered the loss. He was knocked around by San Francisco,
allowing 9 hits and 4 walks in 4 innings.
