Willie Mays left the yard and had 3 RBI as the San Francisco Giants outscored
the Cincinnati Reds 5 to 4.
San Francisco scored the deciding run in the top of the 9th inning. After an
out was recorded, Chuck Hiller stroked a one-base hit. Johnny Klippstein
then threw a pitch that the catcher muffed. Willie McCovey then was walked
intentionally. One out later, Harvey Kuenn stepped up to the plate and he
lined a base-hit scoring the run. San Francisco banged out 9 on the night.
The victory was credited to Jack Sanford(5-6) who went 8 innings, allowing 4
runs. Stu Miller got the save, his 9th. Klippstein(5-3) was given the loss
in relief.
