At Wrigley Field the San Francisco Giants easily handled the Chicago Cubs by

the score of 8 to 4.

 

San Francisco jumped out to the early lead in the first inning with 3 runs

using 4 hits.  Harvey Kuenn started the inning off right when he ripped a

base-knock.  Manny Mota next to the plate and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.

After another out, Orlando Cepeda came to the plate and smashed a two-run

homer (his 7th of the season).  Felipe Alou was up next and he lashed a

single.  Tom Haller stepped into the box and was hit by a pitch.  Jose Pagan

continued the rally and lined a one-base hit scoring the final run of the

inning.  Overall San Francisco out-hit Chicago 13 to 8.  

 

The victory went to Juan Marichal(3-2) who went 8 innings, allowing 4 runs.

Bob Buhl(1-4) was tagged with the loss.  He gave up 9 hits and 2 walks in 7

innings.
