Billy Pierce whitewashed Houston on 3 hits at Colt Stadium as the San
Francisco Giants beat the Houston Colt 45's by the count of 2 to
0.
Pierce(3-1) escaped virtually unscathed against the Houston hitters. He
didn't allow much, just 3 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings improving his ERA from
5.00 to 3.75. Neither team managed to score after the 4th inning.
The loss was charged to Dick Farrell(4-1). He gave up just 2 runs and 5 hits
in 8 innings. 'Pierce was the man tonight,' San Francisco's manager said.
'He had just about every pitch working.'
