Bill White ripped 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated

the San Francisco Giants in 12 innings by a score of 8 to 6 at Candlestick

Park.

The score was tied at 6 after nine. St. Louis won it in the 12th inning.

White began the St. Louis spurt when he smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his

5th of the season). After an out was recorded, Ken Boyer stepped in and he

lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 5th of the season). St. Louis banged out

13 on the afternoon.

Bobby Shantz(3-0) went 3 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Jim

Duffalo(1-1) took the loss in relief. He pitched 3 innings giving up 3 hits

and 1 walk.
