Bill Virdon had 3 base hits and 3 RBI at Candlestick Park as the Pittsburgh
Pirates, running on all cylinders, ripped the San Francisco Giants by a large
13 to 2 margin.
Pittsburgh went ahead for good in the top of the 2nd inning as they scored 4
runs on 3 base hits. That was all the offense they were to need. Overall
Pittsburgh out-hit San Francisco 15 to 10.
The win was credited to Tom Sturdivant(3-0) who went 7 innings allowing 2
runs. Billy O'Dell(1-3) absorbed the loss. He was knocked around by
Pittsburgh, allowing 10 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.
