Matty Alou hit 2 doubles and Juan Marichal went the distance as the San

Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 4 to 2.

San Francisco had 3 runs cross the plate in the top of the 4th inning with the

help of 3 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Marichal who deflated

the spirits of the home town crowd when he stroked a one-base hit which was

good for two runs. San Francisco had a total of 10 hits for the game.

The win went to Marichal(5-2) who allowed 2 runs in the game. Stan

Williams(2-4) took the loss. He was unable to control the San Francisco

offense and allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
