At Colt Stadium, the Houston fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. Jack
Sanford(3-4) finally bested his Houston opposite, Bob Bruce(2-3), by the
score of 2 to 1.
Sanford gave San Francisco a solid outing. He went 7 and 1/3 innings
surrendering 7 hits and 3 walks improving his ERA from 3.80 to 3.44. Overall
San Francisco out-hit Houston 12 to 7.
Sanford got help from Stu Miller who earned his 6th save. The loss was
charged to Bruce. He got hit hard, allowing 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.
With the win, San Francisco continued their winning ways; their streak now
stands at 7 games and counting. 'We're running on all cylinders now', said
San Francisco's manager. 'I probably shouldn't change a thing and let the
guys continue to put up the wins.'
