The Chicago Cubs toppled the San Francisco Giants by a 6 to 2 score at Wrigley
Field.
Chicago jumped on top of San Francisco in the bottom of the 3rd inning when
they tallied 2 runs on 3 hits. The big moment was provided by Lou Brock who
excited the crowd when he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 2nd of
the season). Chicago ended up with 10 hits for the game while San Francisco
had 6.
The victory was credited to Cal Koonce(2-0) who went 8 innings, allowing 2
runs. Billy Pierce(2-1) absorbed the loss. He surrendered 8 hits and 3 walks
in 6 innings.
