Billy O'Dell came through with a solid 9 innings as the seemingly unstoppable
San Francisco Giants beat the St. Louis Cardinals in 10 innings by a score of
1 to 0.
The score was knotted at zero after nine innings. San Francisco was
victorious in the 10th inning. Harvey Kuenn smacked a single. After an out
was recorded, Willie Mays stepped in and he doubled. Orlando Cepeda then
stroked a one-base hit giving San Francisco the win and sending the home town
fans into a frenzy. San Francisco had 7 hits for the night.
The winning pitcher was Bobby Bolin(3-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Don
Ferrarese(0-3) was given the loss in relief. He surrendered 3 hits and 2
walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
No one has been able to stop San Francisco lately as they lengthened their
winning streak to 9 games. San Francisco's manager was clearly happy after
the game -- 'Everything is clicking for us right now.'
