30,312 fans watched an exciting game at Wrigley Field.  The San Francisco

Giants topped the Chicago Cubs by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.

 

The score was tied at 2 after nine.  San Francisco won the game in the 11th

inning.  Willie Mays drew a walk.  After an out was recorded, Mays swiped

second base.  Felipe Alou then lined a single scoring the run.  San Francisco

out-hit Chicago for the game, 8 hits to 4.  

 

Stu Miller(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Miller was

helped out by Bobby Bolin who recorded his 5th save.  Don Elston(1-1) was

given the loss in relief.  

 

The San Francisco ballclub's record now stands at a league leading 35-22.

With the loss, the Chicago ballclub's record is 28-28.
