The spectacular San Francisco Giants enjoyed a blow-out, pounding the Chicago
Cubs pitchers for 12 while Billy O'Dell(17-10), with relief help from Gaylord
Perry, surrendered 3 runs to Chicago.
Orlando Cepeda helped send the fans home happy. He hit a single scoring two
baserunners in the 1st inning, cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his
32nd of the season) in the 2nd inning and laced a one-base hit in the 8th
inning. San Francisco had 17 hits for the game and Chicago had 8.
Bob Anderson(6-11) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered 5 hits and 2 walks
in 1 inning.
