Bob Skinner hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI as the Pittsburgh Pirates

defeated the San Francisco Giants in 11 innings by a score of 6 to 5 at

Forbes Field.

 

The game was deadlocked at 5 after nine full innings. Pittsburgh was

victorious in the 11th inning.  After two were out Johnny Logan lashed a

single, and an error was also committed.  Bill Mazeroski stepped up next and

he stroked a single making Pittsburgh victorious to the delight of the the

home town crowd.  Overall Pittsburgh out-hit San Francisco 15 to 9.  

 

Jack Lamabe(12-2) got the win allowing no runs in 2 innings. Jim Duffalo(3-5)

was the loser in relief.  It was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an

earned run in his 2 innings of work.
