Jack Sanford completed the game without help from the bullpen as the very

potent San Francisco Giants defeated the New York Mets by a score of 4 to 3

at Shea Stadium.



Sanford(15-8) earned his pay with a solid performance for San Francisco. He

went 9 innings surrendering 7 hits and no walks. New York threatened in the

9th but their rally came up short.



The loss was charged to Roger Craig(9-18). He pitched 8 innings and

surrendered 8 hits and 1 walk.
